Fireworks at Sydney | Australia

Some of the best experiences in life are always not free and may involve taking a high priced air ticket to a place thousands of miles away. We did take one such extravagant trip to Sydney just to spend the new years eve surrounded by glistening fireworks setting the sky ablaze.

Once we set foot on this continent, we quickly realized we were not the only ones with such visions of pomp. To be seated in the best spot to watch the show that night meant shelling out even more greens. Thankfully we had friends from the city to our rescue and knew of a spot to witness the pleasantries at no price. We just jumped into the bandwagon.

We camped by the famous Sydney bridge, brought along a picnic and stretched our feet waiting for the show to begin. Considering its peak of summers in Australia in December, we thoroughly enjoyed basking in the sun as the air filled with the smell of the BBQs. There were small air planes and choppers hovering over us and keeping us entertained. We did see some high end proposals made in skywritings, hope they turned triumphant.

As evening dawned upon us there were fireworks at 9pm that lasted for a few minutes aimed at families with children. Obviously everyone else had a first glimpse into what lay ahead in a few hours when Sydney would be one of the first cities to welcome in the new year.

There are a lot of options to choose how you want to witness this show which is a fine balance of splendid, stunning, artistic, mystery, danger, intensity and raw power. One of our favorite ways would be to hop onto one of those brightly lit boats cruising along the Sydney Harbour. These serve delicious food paired with great music that brings the whole deck to life.

As the midnight drew closer, the atmosphere built up and crowds got fiery. Then it was one huge synched roar counting down to the new year. The fireworks started and instantly amazed the large number of people around us. The sky filled with sparkling streaks of light dancing gracefully down. The massive amount of pyro fired up from the Sydney Harbour bridge lighted up the dark sky.

Tonnes of fireworks, choreographed to perfection casted amazing reflections on the water of the harbour. Watching this display was a magical experience. It raised our spirits and transported us to a world of beauty and finesse. No fire or light show we ever saw matched the extravaganza that surrounded us. The city put up a show that touched the crowds hearts and their imaginations.

Sydney sure is a breathtaking place to usher in the new year.Get along some fireworks of your own and multiply the glitters and bangs. We wish you a exciting new year.
