A helicopter whirls dust circles below us, in a first of its kind where I see helicopters flying lower than the height I was hiking at. A block of ice, the size of a refrigerator calves out of the Khumbu glacier. It comes down blowing plumes of snow down the mountain face accompanied by a jarring sound that’s hard to ignore
